Kobe Shipping Group owes its origins to Tanabe Koun Co.,Ltd. a company Mr. Kikuo Tanabe founded more than 50 years ago. In 1973 the company started Kobe Shipping Agency Co.,Ltd. which allowed the company to expand its business from not only Korean crew recruiting but to owning ships many of which were time chartered out to Nippon Yusen Kaisha, Ltd. (NYK LINE). Kobe Shipping Agency also provides crew manning as well as overall ship management services.
In 2006, Hinode Kosan Co.,Ltd., a company specializing in crew manning, was founded, and has developed a close association with the Weifang Tongda Nautical Academy and the Dalian International Seafarer Training Center.
Kobe Shipping Co.,Ltd., the parent company, built the companies first large sized container carrier (4,900TEU) in 2007, and its first cape-sized bulk carrier (177,000DWT) in 2008. Both of these vessels are on time charter to NYK Line, a company that we have a very long and close relationship with.
In 2008, Kobe Ship management Co.,Ltd. commenced operations and through our many years of experience in ship management we are developing new markets and opportunities for the company.
Kobe Shipping Group now has three companies, Kobe Shipping Co.,Ltd., Hinode Kosan Co.,Ltd.., and Kobe Shipmanagement Co.,Ltd. each of which is focused on an a key area of shipping; ship building, ship manning and ship management.
Kobe Shipping Group currently has operations in the following countries.- In Japan, our Headquarters are in Kobe, and we also maintain a Tokyo office and a Shikoku office.
- Overseas, we have formed a close association with Busan Shinho Shipping Co.,Ltd. in Korea, our partner office in Dalian China, Alpha Shipmanagement Corporation in the Philippines, and ACGI Shipping Inc., a general crew agency with offices at all West Coast Ports of North America. Through our own offices and those of our partners we have created a network on all sides of the Pacific Ocean. This allows our group of companies to provide shipmangement and crewing services where ever our customers vessels may call.
